Powerdrive Technologies is excited to share that China XD Group, the largest state-owned power transmission line equipment manufacturing company in China, has expressed a strong interest in investing in Sri Lanka’s renewable energy sector. On Thursday, 16th October 2020, Mr. Tao, Head of Asia Business Development at China XD, and his team visited Sri Lanka to explore potential opportunities for collaboration. Accompanying them were Mr. K. K. N. K. Chinthaka, CEO of Powerdrive Technologies, and Mr. Upul Jayasinghe, Media Coordinator.

During their visit, the delegation met with Hon. Prasanna Ranathunga, Minister of Industrial Export & Investment Promotion and Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation. The discussions were fruitful, leading to China XD Group expressing their intent to invest in a 200 MW Renewable Energy Power Plant in Sri Lanka. This investment aligns with the national policy on renewable energy and signifies a positive step towards sustainable development in the country.

In addition to the renewable energy plant, China XD Group is also interested in establishing a manufacturing facility for transmission line equipment, further enhancing local capabilities and contributing to the economic growth of Sri Lanka.
